Third shoplifter arrested

Last week, another arrest was made in relation to theft at the Co-op in Rush Green, with an 8-week suspended sentence charge (suspended for 12 months) coming the following day.

After being informed of the shoplifting offence, which took place on 21st July, the team's Adam recognised the suspect after CCTV enquiries, passing the information on to another department.

The man was arrested 7 days later by officers on the 'arrest car', a team dedicated to apprehending outstanding suspects.

As well as the stolen items being returned, which included fabric softener and coffee pods, Eastbrook's Lee issued a Community Protection Warning (CPW) banning the man from the store.

"Adam has played a pivotal role in dealing with shoplifters at the Co-op since arriving on the ward in May, which has included working closely with staff. Whether it's been directly arresting suspects at the scene, chasing them down on the bus or passing the information on to other policing units, that's now 3 shoplifters who, hopefully, won't be back anytime soon."
